If you’ve been using one of our infrared saunas, then no doubt you already have experienced the relaxing and rejuvenating qualities that make us the best in the industry. Your sauna should be beneficial to your health for many years to come, but you should also be sure to keep it clean. Read on for some tips on the best ways of doing that.
You should put a towel down before any session in your sauna to protect it from sweat and dirt. However, leaving behind some residue is inevitable. After each usage you can use a solution of water, baking soda, and vinegar to wipe away whatever remains. Diluted hydrogen peroxide also works. Don’t use any caustic chemicals to clean your sauna. If the wood absorbs them they can disperse into the atmosphere while the sauna is in use, and cause health problems. For the same reason you shouldn’t try to paint the wood. For any stains or if you want to do a deeper cleaning, the best method is to take fine grit sandpaper and gently run it over the surface of the wood.
You should also dust the sauna regularly, just as you would any piece of furniture. If you like, you can also apply Tung oil periodically with a cloth, which will allow the wood to remain soft and supple. Think of your sauna as an investment that you want to protect it, just as you would anything of value. All our saunas come with the option of an oxygen ionizer, which is one of our bestselling accessories. If you purchase one, let it run with the sauna door closed for thirty minutes after each session. You will efficiently eliminate mold, bacteria, and odors in this way.
One of the things that sets an infrared sauna above a traditional hot rock or steam sauna is that they’re so easy to clean and maintain. The far infrared sauna also offers health benefits that the other two do not. The cleaning is very easy and quick, so be diligent about it and relaxation and improved health will be your rewards.
